Selena said during a conversation at the Women in Film event : “I really believe that there is strength in those vulnerable moments, when you tell people you need help and want to get it. There is no shame in that. So I shared my inability to get pregnant and admitted to having bipolar disorder. The critics go away.”

After this statement, Selena received cheers and enthusiastic applause from the guests in the audience.

The American singer-actress further explained that she wants to be an advocate for women. That’s why she shares her story and is honest with people, helping those who are facing medical problems to open up and receive help. Selena also said that she is not a perfect person but always tries to be herself.

“So never let anyone tell you that you’re not a good person,” Selena said, turning around and placing her hand on her sister sitting next to her. “Ignore anyone who says you’re a victim. To me, you’re a person who overcame challenges.”

Selena Gomez has responded a week after she revealed her health condition to Vanity Fair magazine . The former Disney star said in the interview: “Unfortunately, I can’t get pregnant on my own. I have a lot of health issues that could be life-threatening for me and my baby if I were pregnant. I’ve been grieving for a while.”

However, Selena Gomez said she plans to have children in a different way. The Slow Down singer is considering adoption or surrogacy. “I’m really grateful that there are avenues for people who are desperate to become mothers and I’m one of them. I’m excited about this journey,” she added.

The Only Murders in the Building star was diagnosed with lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease, in 2013. She had a kidney transplant in 2017, and received a kidney from close friend and actress Francia Raisa. Selena was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2018.
